Fraction Review - Comparing Fractions, Identifying Equivalent Fractions, & more!

Online Google Slides version now included!

These books will help your students to practice using fractions. Within the story are situations in which the reader must model fractions, compare and order fractions, estimate using fractions, and write and identify equivalent fractions. All work is done within the book.

Students make choices and head to the page that they are directed to. Students will have different results depending on their choice as the story continues. Your class will enjoy this format and get in a few great opportunities to practice the concepts and processes of estimating and comparing fractions and using equivalent fractions.

This is a great activity for a quiet work day or substitute day. All work is done independently. In some situations, when a student chooses a method that is not the most efficient way or an answer that is incorrect, the book explains why their choice was not the best and directs them how to continue.

Since the book is partially self-correcting, the teacher correcting and grading is very minimal. Take a look at the preview images for sample pages and assembly details.

Check that your students are able to compare, order, estimate, and find equivalent fractions at this level of difficulty. The problems are visible in the preview images.

Reviews from other teachers:

- I like this resource because it reviewed using fractions in a "real-life" situation and it provided a lot of interesting reading practice for a student who struggles with reading! :)

- My students love these choose your own adventures, and the fact they can solve their own mistakes makes it a great way to independently learn.

- My students enjoyed using this resource as they could go in different paths to get the answers. Created great discussions among the students.

- This is part of my emergency sub plans for my algebra 1 students. Review never hurt anyone, right? They really enjoyed it.

- Great way to engage my students. No matter their level they all were engaged. The self checking element really help students know if they were on the right track immediately.

- This is my second "choose your own journey" activity. I love the self-checking element of them, and I also love how very engaged the students are!

- Super creative! Once my 6th graders bought into it they were off like a shot and enjoyed it!

- Love the idea of incorporating reading into math class!

- I used this with 5th graders during a Math Camp. The students loved it and even asked to take the book home to finish when we ran out of time!

- Using this with Saxon Course 2. Planning on replacing Investigation 1 with this and the Percents "Choose Your Own Journey." Ran it by my teaching partner and we are psyched! Can't wait. 7th Grade Math Teacher

The students LOVE using this. Great resource, thanks!

Fun and the kids enjoy. I like how the students can work at their own pace and it self checks.
