Parallel & Perpendicular Lines (Linear Equations) - Practice / Review:

This sorting activity helps your students practice classifying pairs of lines as the same line, parallel lines, perpendicular lines, or neither. The cards contain a mix of equations, graphs, slopes, ordered pairs, and word phrases to give students a variety of different skills and concepts to work with.

Here is what's included:

- 4 quick - fold pockets to hold sorted cards

- 40 sorting cards (mix of equations, graphs, slopes, ordered pairs, and word phrases)

- 4 "answer cards" that list which cards should be in each pocket

- optional "sorting mat" to offer an alternative format (great for group work or learning stations)

Students will cut out and sort the cards into the correct pocket. The pockets fit well on an interactive notebook page.

Then, hand out the answer/check cards. After students have verified that their cards were sorted correctly, the answer cards can be tucked into the back of each pocket. Students can re-do the activity as a review at any time.

Reviews from Other Teachers:

  • Great activity to use after introducing the characteristics of parallel and perpendicular lines. My students loved working on it with their groups.
  • I laminated and used as a center for practice - worked great!
  • My students love these card sorts! The are very handy to add to their INBs. Great for reviewing topics before exams or quizzes! Thanks!
  • We used this as a test review in groups. My kids enjoyed it!
  • I love that my students have an activity to add to their interactive notebook that will help them review.
  • I return to this sort year after year - it's a good one!
  • I am a campus instructional coach, so I often work with content areas outside of my expertise. Math is one of them. My teachers wanted help with stations, which are kind of my thing, and this resource really helped me be able to facilitate a stations lesson for them. Thanks so much!
