Angle Addition Postulate with roof trusses and Segment Addition Postulate with wall framing and studs!: 2 page visual "doodle notes" set -

When students color or doodle in math class, it activates both hemispheres of the brain at the same time. There are proven benefits of this cross-lateral brain activity:
- new learning
- relaxation (less math anxiety)
- visual connections
- better memory & retention of the content!

Students fill in the sheets, answer the questions, and color, doodle or embellish. Then, they can use it as a study guide later on.

Content includes:
- definition of Segment Addition Postulate
- diagrams showing the property
- visual real-life situation with framing a wall using 2x4 studs
- practice & examples finding missing segment lengths
- definition of Angle Addition Postulate
- diagrams showing the geometry
- visual representation with 2 real types of roof trusses
- practice & examples finding missing angle measures
- *Includes expressions as angle measures - Students must write an equation to solve.
- Challenge to find all angle measures in a roof truss

Visual note taking strategies like sketch notes or doodle notes are based on dual coding theory.  When we can blend the text input with graphic/visual input, the student brain processes the information differently and can more easily convert the new learning into long-term memory.

This strategy also integrates the left and right hemispheres of the brain to increase focus, learning, and retention!

2 pages are included, plus answer keys, samples, and info.

Reviews from other teachers:

-My students loved this! It was super engaging and helped them see real-world connections to the concepts we were studying.

-Used as a study guide for my daughter in Geometry! She is filling in the notes as a way to review the topics taught throughout the year!

-I began using these with my struggling students and found success. Soon ALL of my students wanted to try them, so I gave it a try. I don't think I will ever go back!

-I wish I had found Doodle Notes sooner! I throw them in our Interactive Notebooks every chance I get as a change of pace from usual notes and foldables.

-A great alternative to normal notes, I used during summer school, and it was exactly the change the kids needed.
