These vocabulary visual prompts act as printable doodle note templates for reviewing key terms! They'll work with any content area and any set of vocabulary words. Each card in the set of 54 templates is a manageable study guide. Students can select a graphic layout that fits the particular term or concept and create their own visual review guide. They'll keep & collect them as a reference.

Visual note taking takes advantage of biological brain processing to increase student focus and boost retention! Students use these cards to create visual representations of vocabulary words. These visual "memory triggers" are based upon brain research and activate mental pathways that help them to store the concepts in long-term memory.

The graphic layout of these study guides allows students to mentally organize the information in their minds, understand the relationships and connections between ideas, and remember the lesson material better! Students get bonus brain benefits by blending text and graphics to take advantage of dual coding.

This set can be used in any subject area, and for a wide range of grade levels. These can form a word wall and/or be used to review key words at the end of each chapter.

The pages are not editable.

Reviews from other Teachers:

This resource is awesome! I was trying to find a creative way for my students to interact with the vocabulary I had given them in class. This worked like a charm.

My students loved using this resource to create a word wall of the Unit Vocabulary. Great resource and adds instant art and a word wall to your classroom!

I have been watching this resources over the last few years and decided to jump in with the visual notes. So far, so good!

I am working more with interactive notebooks and your doodle note resources are helping me implement them more effectively. The students enjoy being able to add color and their own creativity that helps them to remember. I am looking forward to using these with my Geometry students to help with all of the vocabulary they need to learn.

My AVID Elective students loved the choice, creativity, and meaningfulness of this vocabulary activity! It has become a new staple in our classroom. I just print out a copy or two of each page (and there are a LOT!) and kids dig through and pick two after pre-selecting two academic vocabulary words from core-classes of their choice. When we first introduced, it was helpful to use your info and graphic to teach them about the dual-coding theory; this really sold them on its effectiveness while being fun! Once the students knew my expectations, I have even assigned a few visual vocabulary slips on spontaneous sub days because I just had so many copies ready to do in a designated bin in class! THANK YOU! P.S. They are also, of course, so adorable!

I use these every week for vocabulary. Wonderful template!

- This was amazing for my visual vocab of literary terms!

I gave these to my students in a Google slide show for them to illustrate digitally for science vocabulary and academic vocabulary.

Perfect for my student centered vocab stations!

- I just love doodle notes and so do my students! The pages are engaging and informative.

My students love Doodle and Sketch notes but struggle with page setup. This resource saved time and allowed all students to work with vocabulary in a meaningful way. The work looks amazing as a word wall as well.

I used this as a part of our daily warm-ups and then as a great review, reference later in the term.
